Krav Maga Yashir Instructor Gershon Ben Keren

Gershon Ben Keren is a 5th Degree Black Belt in Krav Maga. He has been involved in the martial arts since 1980, when he first began practicing Judo (he holds a 2nd Dan Black Belt in this art). In 2010 he was inducted into the Museum of Israeli Martial Arts by Dr Dennis Hanover, in Herzliya, Israel. Originally an instructor with the IKMF (International Krav Maga Federation), under Eyal Yanilov, he now heads the Krav Maga Yashir system, which incorporates many of the training methods and tactics of the Hisardut system (a system of hand-to-hand combat taught to Israeli Special Forces and Units). He has trained with many of Imi Lichtenfeld's first genaeration students/instructors both in Israel, Europe and the US, including Miki Assulin, Haim Zut, Avi Moyal and Haim Gidon.

He has worked in the security industry for over 30 years, both as an operative and a trainer. He now works as a consultant and trainer to corporations and enterprises advising on travel security protocols and risk management and mitigation etc. He also provides training in self-protection teaching employees how to identify, prevent and avoid violence within work place, and other settings etc.

He holds two master’s degrees, one in Psychology (Newcastle University) and the other in Criminology and Criminal Psychology (University of Essex) and uses primary research to enhance his understanding of what real-world violence looks like, and how to be effective when dealing with aggressive and potentially violent individuals.
